ToggleHERRINGBONE TERRACOTTA TILE IDEAS
Lubelska has been sourcing and cutting reclaimed terracotta tiles for over a decade now – albeit under a different name. Terracotta flooring has not been at the height of interior fashion in the last few years, however, they have stood the test of time and remain a timeless addition to any space. There are a number of different ways terracotta can be laid including:
- A herringbone pattern, often referred to as terracotta parquet (which we look over a number of times below).
- Stretcher bond
- Basketweave
- A herringbone tile pattern with a contrasting inlay
All of these different styles can be blended together to give a stunning look for both contemporary and rustic looks.
We actually supply 4 different types of warm terracotta tiles and 5 different types of Light terracotta tiles and we have provided examples of a few below
KY4 – HERRINGBONE TERRACOTTA TILES
Pale parquet terracotta tiles look great in most settings. Our KY4 range are proving to be very popular if you do require samples of these, feel free to contact us to find out more.
KR4 – HERRINGBONE TERRACOTTA TILES
Our KR4 tile is one of our long, thin tiles. This tile is extremely versatile and can be laid in a number of patterns. The most popular include a herringbone pattern and certainly becomes the focal point of any room when laid this way.
KY2 LIGHT HEXAGONAL TERRACOTTA TILES
This tile is a beautifully light hexagonal terracotta tile as you can see in the image below. These tiles were specifically chosen as pale as possible to make sure they fit in with the rest of the house. Not a finished project yet, but we can’t wait to see how it will look.
KR4 HERRINGBONE PATTERN WITH LIMEWASH
This is one of our red terracotta tiles often used in a herringbone finish. Originally the tile provides a very traditonal reddish finish but the customer has used our colour enhancing sealer and left the light coloured grout on the tile leaving a dusty finish which not only enhances the tile but gives it a more pastel finish. We love how this looks and a video of this can be seen below.
KY3 RECLAIMED TERRACOTTA TILE
Our second tile is our KY3, this is our largest warm terracotta tile and is among the most popular too. It has been laid in many kitchens and really provides warmth to space when laid. As you can see below it was laid in a country home with an aga and the whole interior of the place changes and becomes very inviting.
KR4 TERRACOTTA TILE
The picture below shows a tile laid with a very thin grout line and then sealed with our satin finish. This finish provides much more of a Mediterranean feel and looks great in an open plan design. We personally really love this design.
KR2 HEXAGONAL TERRACOTTA TILES
This is our hexagonal reclaimed terracotta tile and certainly provides the focal point of any room. The pattern draws your eye to the floor and looks fantastic in any space. I would mention you have had to really love this pattern and hexagonal tile as it does give a very distinctive look.
KR1 RECLAIMED TERRACOTTA TILES
Our last warm tile is our KR1. This is a traditional square terracotta tile. And has been laid both inside and out. Below you can see how it adds warmth to an otherwise white bathroom but doesn’t detract from the minimalist style.
You can also see how it has been laid in a traditional country kitchen with an aga. Again this floor adds warmth to a family space and its great for any room with heavy foot traffic as our tiles all last a lifetime.
CONCLUSION
Whatever style you pick, terracotta can be a great addition to any home. Once sealed, these floors will last a lifetime. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions regarding any of our floors or you’re just looking for some advice with ideas.
